Why it Matters
Tending to the Islands’ Future
Farming on the islands comes with unique challenges. Geographic isolation, limited infrastructure, rising costs, and confusing regulations create barriers to access. That’s why the San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild fosters collaboration, delivers responsive programs, and invests in long-term solutions to ensure local agriculture flourishes and that the island communities who depend on local food can too. Because when farmers succeed: we preserve farmland, increase access to local food, honor the island’s heritage and strengthen community resilience.
Since 2021, we’ve supported 357 farmers through the Farmers-to-Farmland Program.
Since 2017, we’ve connected 87 beginning farmers and rachers to farmland opportunities.
Since 2020, we’ve distributed $344,321in grants through the FARM Fund.
