Brickworks Contractor
Help take care of a beloved community space in the heart of Friday Harbor!
This is a part-time position through the San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild, for August 1 through December 31, 2026
Estimate is 5-7 hours of work per week.
Compensation is $27 – $30 per hour, based on experience.
Flexible schedule, occasional irregular hours, some on-call work.
Requirements:

Coordinator Tasks
- Renter Communication and Event Preparation
- Ensure bookings are listed online and up to date within a timely manner.
- Track rentals and services provided to renters including items that need to be set out before events and put away after them, such as the projector, or tables and chairs.
- Prior to and after events, set out and put away items agreed to in the rental contract.
- When rentals are confirmed, coordinate and lead walkthroughs of the space to ensure renters understand responsibilities and space
- Answer the Brickworks phone to arrange initial bookings, receive details about the rental, and track the Brickworks calendar. Answer renter questions about the building, Brickworks inventory etc.
- Be on-call for renter needs for urgent requests during the rental.
- San Juan Island Liaison & Communication
- Maintain regular communication with Ag Guild staff regarding the building, any concerns, broken items, success stories etc.
- After initial communication with renter, coordinate with Ag Guild staff to finalize the booking (manager responsible for sending agreements, invoice and contract).
- Communicate with the cleaning crew about upcoming rentals and provide ample warning when there is a short turn around between events.
- Check-in on the space after each renter and ensure everything is taken care of, in good working order and back in place. Communicate with the Ag Guild staff if all is correct or there is a concern.
- Track volunteer hours, participate and/or help organize work parties.
- Building Care
- Be the first set of eyes to ensure everything in the building is functioning and in working order. Communicate needs with the Ag Guild staff.
- When requested by the Ag Guild staff, coordinate care and maintenance, especially emergency needs of the building.
- Ensure the courtyard is well-cared for, provide lite maintenance (i.e. pick up trash when visible outside), and communicate to the Ag Guild staff when we need to hire someone to help with landscaping.
- Ensure basic building needs are in order, i.e. Edison bulbs are all lit, there’s enough cleaning supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags etc.) in backstock and communicate with Ag Guild staff when more is needed to be ordered.
- Ensure, dishware is clean, storage room is tidy etc. for renters and that everything is where it should be and in operating order.
- Special Events & Other
- Assist with special events such as the annual Holiday Market!
